Last year my good friend Zach Brake approached me about teaming to go to Chicago to shoot a wedding, and I was super excited! Little did I know what a fabulous, fun and loyal group of people I would get to meet on this destination wedding. I had never been to the big city of Chicago, but filled my head with the images of great places to eat and potentially scary train rides into the city, LOL.
We certainly had our fill of fantastic food, and no danger in the days preceding the wedding. It was a treat to visit Chinatown, and walk around the windy city taking in the feel of the big city! Visiting Union Station put the idea in my head for a train trip at some point in the near future as well.
I finally got to meet Danny and Selina the morning of the wedding, and they were both filled with excitement, and surprises for each other. Danny is a big basketball fan, and Selina, bragging she does not follow tradition, got him the Nike shoes he had wanted. Danny, being the romantic he is, surprised her with a mint bike, complete with a bell and a basket so they can ride bikes together throughout the city. They selected the world famous Bolingbrook golf club, in Bolingbrook, Illinois as the site of their ceremony and reception. Unlike most of my shoots this year, this one was going to be a bit more of a challenge due to the fact I was shooting alone, but thanks to great venues, and excellent time management, there were no issues. I kept my gear simple for this one, so I could focus on content and composition and do what I do best during editing, be a storyteller.
